Other
Activities offered
Lecture/Performance: Grade
levels K-12.
The Lecture/Performance assembly introduces the
elements of dance and puppets and exposes the communicative aspects
of these arts. Pertinent relationships are also drawn between dance,
puppets and other art forms. The program features four
puppeteer/dancers - both male and female - performing a variety of
dance/puppet mixed media pieces, puppet stories, and short dances
set to a wide range of music and sound accompaniment.
Performance/Demo
The Performance/Demo is
actually a "mini-concert" in your space with minimal lighting and
set design elements. The program features James, our puppet
narrator, and four puppeteer/dancers - both male and female -
performing a variety of dance/puppet mixed media pieces, puppet
stories, and short dances set to a wide range of music and sound
accompaniment. Programs are tailored to your individual needs, as
you choose pieces from our current
repertory.
Master Classes for
Young Children: Grade levels K-5.
Designed as a follow-up to
the Lecture/Performance program, the dance and/or puppet master
classes will give children the opportunity to explore the ideas
presented and performed by Living Parables. The two-fold experience,
that of audience member and that of student, deepens the child's
understanding of art as a creative act. Classes, which are team
taught by Roberto and Loretta Fois, are tailored to your individual
needs, and can include puppet construction, choreography, dance
technique, story-telling and mime. All teachers are encouraged to
participate with their classes.
Master Classes for Older
Students: Grade levels 6-12.
Also designed as a
follow-up to the Living Parables Lecture/Performance. The master
classes will allow students to personally explore the principles and
ideas presented in the Lecture/Performance. Classes, which are
team-taught by Roberto and Loretta Fois, are tailored to your
individual needs, and can include puppet construction, choreography,
dance technique, story-telling and mime, as well as improvisation
and exploration. Dance teachers and supervisors are encouraged to
attend.
Formal Performance
This is a fully produced
concert, complete with lighting, costumes, sound and a cast of six
to ten puppeteer/dancers. The concert consists of five to seven
pieces from our current repertory, including puppetry (hand puppets,
marottes, life-size puppets), dance, and mixed media (puppet/dance).
If you would like, an informal "meet the artists" is also available
after or before the performance.
