Loretta Di Bianca Fois (Artistic Director/Dancer)
received her M.F.A. in Dance from The Ohio State University. Her
B.A. in Theatre/Chemistry is from The College of the Holy Cross,
where she also directed and choreographed for her own dance company,
HCDC.
Loretta currently is the Director of Dance at Raritan
Valley Community College, and also is an artist in residence with
Paper Mill Playhouse. She is an artistic director of Puppe’n’Dance
and the Founding Director of New Jersey Dance Studio. Loretta
currently serves on the Executive board of Dance New Jersey. She was
Director of Dance at City University of New York-CSI, and has been
on faculty at Mason Gross School of the Arts - Rutgers University,
Union County College, Ohio State University, Middlesex County School
of Performing Arts, Middlesex High School, New Jersey School of
Ballet and State Academy of Ballet. She was a teaching artist for
New Jersey School of the Arts (NJ Department of Education) and an
Artistic Director of Red Peonies Performance Project, and has taught
at various American College Dance Festivals.
Mrs. Fois' first full-length evening of choreography
was presented in 1986. Since then her choreography has been
performed by HCDC, Puppe’n’Dance, Jannetti/Di Bianca & Dancers,
and in educational and regional theatre companies. She has twice
been commissioned to set a piece on the New Jersey State Ballet
Company. Loretta’s work has been presented at Free Range
Arts, Cunningham Studio, DanceSpace, George Street Playhouse, The
Forum Theater and at American College Dance Festivals. As a
performer, she has worked with various artists including Pat Graney,
Ralph Lemon, and Ellen Cornfield, and has danced with Claire Porter,
Stephen Koplowitz, Andrew Jannetti, HCDC, Dancing in the Streets,
and Ohio State's University Dance Company.
Loretta has been the recipient of a number of grants
including New York Foundation for the Arts, New Jersey State Council
on the Arts, The Puffin Foundation and Middlesex County Cultural and
Heritage Commission. Mrs. Fois is currently a member of IDEA,
ArtPride, NJ and serves as the President of Dance New Jersey,
the premier professional dance organization in the state.
